A ZixCharge™
Member shops at a ZixCharge merchant much like they would at
any merchant. They put merchandise in their "shopping cart"
and give the merchant a shipping address where they want their
purchases sent. When the merchant asks for an email address, the ZixCharge
Member may give their real email address or give their
ZixCharge forwarding email address -- for example -- JohnPrice@ZixCharge.com.
Instead of requiring credit card information, a ZixCharge merchant will
present a "Buy with ZixCharge" button to ZixCharge Members who have linked
to them through ZixMall.
Clicking the "Buy with ZixCharge" button will cause the ZixCharge
"charge slip" to appear in the Member's browser window. ZixCharge
uses this "charge slip" interface to authorize a transaction.
Features of the charge slip include the following:
Merchant Logo -- The merchant's logo will be displayed
at the top of the charge slip.
Date and Time -- The date and time, expressed in the local time for the
consumer. It is retrieved from the official clock at the
ZixCharge secure data center.
Merchant Name -- The name of merchant from whom purchases are being made.
Transaction Number -- Assigned by the merchant, the transaction number
is used to track the transaction through the merchant system. The
consumer uses this transaction number as reference for purchase inquiries.
Approval Amount -- This is the amount that the consumer will authorize to be
charged for this transaction.
The charge slip allows the ZixCharge Member to authorize an Internet
transaction on their Default Payment Method by entering their Login
Name and Password and clicking the "Pay With Default" button.
To choose from among several payment methods in their ZixWallet,
a Member may open their ZixWallet by pressing the Open ZixWallet button.
Once their ZixWallet is open, a ZixCharge Member can press the
"Buy With" button next to the chosen payment method.
Whether a Member uses their Default Payment Method or selects a payment
method from their ZixWallet, ZixCharge will submit the request for
authorization through the merchant's existing authorization processor.
Once the approval has been returned to ZixCharge, ZixCharge will notify
the Member, returning them to the merchant's site, and notify the merchant
of the approval code received from the authorization processor.
